History
Landrum Insurance Agency was established in 1952 by Tommy and Mary Johnson as a family-owned business to serve the insurance needs of upper Spartanburg and Greenville counties in South Carolina and Polk County in North Carolina. Tommy was a civic-minded person who served the Landrum community as town clerk and treasurer for 10 years and as a member of the local and county school boards for 14 years. He also was on the Spartanburg County Board of Commissioners for 12 years, board of directors for Tryon Federal Bank for 35 years, and was instrumental in helping bring several industries to the Landrum area.
In 1974, Bob Walker joined the agency as vice president after returning to his hometown following a successful tour of duty as an Air Force pilot.
The family tradition continued when Bob and Martha Johnson Walker assumed ownership of the agency in 1984. Bob followed in the footsteps of his father-in-law by serving the community on the local and county school boards for nine years. Bob was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1992 and faithfully served District 38 for 16 years. He is also active in the Lions Club, the Landrum Chamber and Business Association, and Landrum First Baptist Church.
In 2001, Landrum Insurance Agency joined the Correll Insurance Group, which provides insurance services throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and beyond. After all of these years, Landrum Insurance Agency continues to offer insurance services customized to meet the individual’s needs with a personal touch.
